The configuration of
clinical orders is being introduced in gGastro version 4.53 to complement the
electronic pathology orders that were introduced in version 4.51. Continuing to
build out this functionality allows the system to offer new ways to add speed
and efficiency when processing requisitions with external laboratories. The
functionality of clinical labs is largely unchanged in that they remain unidirectional
at this time; gGastro will create a requisition number for clinical orders and
receive electronic clinical results, but it still does not send electronic
clinical requisitions. For vendors that agree to send back our
requisition # on clinical lab results, the results can be automatically linked
to the orders. With the introduction of configuring clinical orders
also comes the configuration of vendors for orders/results, updates to
functionality in both the Orders and Thumbnails from a service document,
enhancements in the Orders and Results Queues, and more. A description of all
updates related to clinical orders are below.
How to get the
functionality to work
When a clinical order is
added in gGastro, the order form has to have a requisition number.
Once this is done, all
correctly configured clinical lab orders will generate a requisition number on
the Lab Order form. If you did not select a favorite vendor, you will have to
select vendor at time of order for a requisition number to be
created.
What are the steps their
Vendor needs to take to configure this?
The lab has to agree to
key in that requisition number on the result they return. If
the requisition number is not in the returned result, or not in the
correct field, the matching will not happen.
Will this feature work if
you do not use electronic requisitions (i.e. the clinical/pathology
requisitions are sent via paper or fax)?
The requisition does
not need to go out electronically, but the result does have to come in
electronically for this to work.
